Model No:AEI-WSM-SH42
Wimshurst Machine - The two plates are supported in two rigid uprights and driven by belt in opposite direction. They are heavy, high resistance plastic with sectors of aluminium sheet. Two leyden jars (condensers) made form corning glass and aluminium foil. The whole is mounted on a wooden base nicely polished.
The Wimshurst machine operates on the principle of electrostatic induction and uses two large contra-rotating disks made of insulating material, each with metal sectors. Brushes make contact with these sectors, transferring charges to combs, which then accumulate charge on attached Leyden jars or discharge electrodes. The machine generates high voltages through this process of continuous charge separation and transfer.
