Malus' Law describes the relationship between the intensity of light passing through a polarizing filter and the angle of polarization. It is named after the French physicist Etienne-Louis Malus, who first formulated the law in 1809. This law is fundamental in understanding the behavior of polarized light and is frequently demonstrated in physics laboratories to illustrate the nature of light and polarization.Malus' Law apparatus is to experimentally verify Malus' Law, which states that when polarized light passes through a polarizer, the intensity of the transmitted light is directly proportional to the cosine squared of the angle between the light's polarization direction and the polarizer’s transmission axis.Ensure the polarizer and analyzer are clean and free from dust or scratches that could affect the transmission of light.Keep the angle increments small enough to observe clear changes in intensity.The light intensity should be within the linear range of the photodetector to ensure accurate measurements.
