Model No:AEI-CRS-SH54
Comprising partly evacuated glass bulb approx. 70 mm. diameter, containing at its centre a fine pivot which supports four light weight metal arms. One side of each vane is blackened, the reverse side is bright. Mounted on round base The Crookes radiometer is a simple device comprising a partially evacuated glass bulb containing a set of vanes, typically with one black side and one reflective side. When exposed to light, the vanes rotate, demonstrating the conversion of light energy into mechanical motion. The exact mechanism responsible for this motion is still a topic of scientific inquiry and debate.
A novelty scientific instrument consisting of a glass bulb with a partial vacuum containing a set of vanes or paddles, often black on one side and silver or white on the other. Provides a visual demonstration of the conversion of light energy into kinetic energy. Can spark interest in science and physics concepts such as thermodynamics and the interaction of light and matter. Commonly used as a decorative or educational item in classrooms, offices, and homes.
