Research Binocular Microscope

What Is a Research Binocular Microscope?

A research binocular microscope is a high-precision optical microscope used primarily for advanced scientific and medical research. The term binocular indicates it has two eyepieces, allowing the user to view the sample with both eyes, which reduces eye strain and provides a more natural, three-dimensional view compared to monocular models.

Key Features:

  1. Binocular Head: Two eyepieces (usually 10x or 15x magnification).
  2. Objective Lenses: Typically includes multiple (4x, 10x, 40x, 100x oil immersion).
  3. Magnification Range: Often from 40x to 1000x or higher.
  4. High Numerical Aperture (NA): For better resolution.
  5. Fine & Coarse Focus Knobs: For precise image focusing.
  6. Illumination System: LED or halogen light, often with Kohler illumination.
  7. Stage: Mechanical stage for precise sample positioning.
  8. Condenser and Diaphragm: For focusing light on the specimen.
  9. Digital Imaging (optional): Can be integrated with a camera and computer.
